Winchester has reintroduced the early rifles once again. Now you CAN own a Winchester 1873 (in 38 SPL/357 Mag) and shoot Cowboy Action with an authentic Winchester! They also have a model 1892, 1885 and 1886. These rifles and carbines are far superior to the Rossi copies we are familiar with. I know. I have a Winchester 1894 and a Rossi 1892 to compare.

A competition worthy Cowboy Action rifle of any type will cost just less than $2,000.00 by the time you have it all setup and ready to play. Most of the commercial "action-ready" rifles start at 1,500.00 or more. Then you add custom sights and lever and stock wraps. Regardless of where you start you're gonna spend about $2,000.00. The EMF 1866 Short Rifle "Goldenboy" I shoot costs $1,175.00 right now. Add Whisper Springs, Short-Stroke kit, screws, sights, and wraps and it comes in just uner $2,000.00. Then you have to smooth it out so the action strokes reliably. It's not only expensive but time-consuming.

I see. Well, I guess I'll never be a SASS shooter, then. I don't any funds for such things. To each, his own.
