H20 For Survival/Prepping Usual I am all the time warning folks about dehydration, but this article brings to light in a most dramatic way (sadly, by death) that sometimes you can overdo a (normally) GOOD thing! :-( The family of a Georgia teen who drank too much liquid has taken him off life support. Zyrees Oliver, 17, died Monday morning. He was brain dead after suffering from water intoxication. His family tells CNN affiliate WSB he drank two gallons of water and two gallons of Gatorade during football practice. I was going to post these recommendations, earlier, and got sidetracked: The first two items (did NOT change the order) are most interesting, considering the above. >1.5 quarts/hr., MAXIMUM. >MAX=12 quarts. >Recommended intake of 5-8 oz. in 15-20 minutes. >A drop of just 2-5% below optimum level can cause mental confusion, fatigue and the beginnings of heat exhaustion. www.hlntv.com/video/2014/08/13/georgia-football-player-dies-water-gatorade-overdose?sr=fb081314waterintoxication2pvod
