New .25-45 Sharps Cartridge for the Modern Sporting Rifle .25-45 Sharps cartridge offers maximum terminal ballistics and power from a 5.56mm-sized AR! The new .25-45 Sharps cartridge from the Sharps Rifle Company is engineered to wring every available bit of horsepower out of the 5.56 mm cartridge case. The .25-45 Sharps allows the use of existing AR or M4 magazines to their standard capacity as well as existing bolts, bolt carriers, receivers, and buffer assemblies. By simply dropping in a new upper (or changing the barrel-ed. note) the operator can now use their familiar AR or M4 platform to hunt deer or antelope. The .25-45 Sharps is the sweet spot for the Modern Sporting Rifle. Comments: Only trouble is I can't find a rifle (or upper) in this cartridge for sale on either the Sharp's site or on the Black Forge AR site, which was supposed to be producing rifles in partnership with them. Sharps representatives were stating clear back in 2011 that they wanted to get both the cartridge and rifles shooting it to market 'as quickly as possible', and 3 years later, here we are.

Addendum to the .25-45 Sharps post: Some guys over on AR-15.com were working on a similar concept a few years ago, but calling it the 25-223. One guy who had converted his AR over to it by buying a barrel blank and reaming it out said he was getting the groups you see in the above target after a short break-in period. He also stated he thought the name was catchier from a marketing standpoint, and I have to agree. Sticking 25 in front of .223 is much easier to remember than 25-45 Sharps. Gun companies often have a 'thing' about having to have their company name or initials in new cartridge names, ala .40 S&W and GAP .45. Just keep it super simple, folks.
