Mine came with a slight edge roll on the right side of the ax head--I smoothed it out with a few runs over the black compound side of my strop. I like the hammer pole...Not bad for 15 bucks shipped. Stuck on the first and only throw, I don't want to bust up the handle before I get a chance to trick it out. Next time you see it, it will be all modded up! Stripped off that horrible shiny black goop and forced a patina to protect the head using distilled vinegar and added a coat of M-Pro 7 gun oil. I sanded off the thin coat of varnish that came on the handle and blackened both ends--Then applied a light Pecan stain and sealed it with linseed oil. Tossed away the set screw that came with the hawk (friction keeps it secure in use and makes it easier to replace the handle if you need to in the wild when you may not have a wrench) and the handmade custom sheath from www.walkbyfaith77... completes the package... ...which makes a nice companion for the BHK bushcrafter.
